TIPPERARY GAA ARCHIVES

As part of the 125th Anniversary celebrations, a new Tipperary GAA archive web site is being prepared for launch this summer which will include a list of all players who have played for Tipperary from the Minor grade upwards. All clubs in the county have been sent an e-mail this week with a list of the inter-county players from their club as compiled by PJ Maxwell to review and revert with any updates or omitted players. Clubs are asked to review this information and revert to Ed Donnelly (ed.donnelly@gaa.ie) by Sunday June 21st. Thereafter, the information will be loaded in to an online database where anyone will be able to search for inter-county players by a number of different criteria including name, club, year, grade etc. In addition to this database, the new web site will include the County and Divisional Championship roll of honour from the Minor to Senior grade, including County Final winning captains. More details will be forthcoming closer to the launch of this eagerly awaited online resource.

Club Wall AT CROKE PARK

As part of the 125th Year celebrations, the GAA is erecting a Club Wall outside the entrance to the GAA Museum in Croke Park. The role of the club forms a central part of the GAA and in recognition of this every GAA club will have their club crest represented on this wall.

The project is being financed through the sale of specially commissioned 125 Platinum Range Polo Shirts which can be ordered through a special link on the homepage of the GAA’s website at www.gaa.ie. It is hoped that every club will purchase four of these shirts.

These behind-the-scenes tours offer a unique opportunity to hear first-hand the memories and anecdotes of your GAA legends and heroes. Ag Éisteacht CLUB CONSULTATION update

Three clubs have been visited since Congress as part of the Ag Éisteacht Programme which involves An tÚachtarán and An tÁrd Stiúrthóir visiting clubs to listen to their views on the Association, how it operates and how it is preparing for the future. An tÚachtarán, Christy Cooney, visited Fingallians (Dublin) and Eadestown (Kildare) and An tÁrd Stiúrthóir, Padraig Duffy visiting Scariff (Clare). A schedule of future club visits is currently being compiled and it hoped that as many as 40 clubs will be visited before now and April 2010, including a number overseas. A quarterly review of the programme will take place and a circular will be sent to clubs at this point outlining some of the main suggestions, concerns and observations shared by clubs. A conscious effort is being made to select clubs from varying backgrounds but if you think your club might benefit from involvement in the exercise, email Communications Manager Alan Milton at alan.milton@gaa.ie outlining the reasons and providing some background information on your club.
