Following record enrolments last year, 2009 is shaping up to be even better for Tipperary Institute.
The latest CAO data show another spectacular increase in the number of applications for TI programmes. The main highlight is a 20% increase in the number of applicants for TI compared with the same time last year.
Importantly, the number of first preference applications for TI programmes has increased by 41% since February and is 22% higher than at the corresponding time twelve months ago.
Even better news is that Tipperary Institute is out-performing its competitors. The growth in applicant numbers for Tipperary Institute since February is double the rate of growth across the rest of the third level sector in Ireland.
The number of first preference applicants for TI has more than doubled over the last two years.
According to Tipperary Institute CEO Padraig Culbert, “All the growth in first preference applications is for Level 8 Honours Degree programmes. First preference applications for Honours degrees have increased a further 29% from the record levels of last year.”
Honours degrees offered by Tipperary Institute cover a wide range of areas from Accounting, Finance and Business to Creative Multimedia and Games Design and Development. The rapidly evolving social and environmental sectors are also well provided for with Degrees in Environmental and Natural Resource Management, Social and Community Studies and Sustainable Rural Development.
Padraig Culbert says “These attractive programmes reflect Tipperary Institute’s commitment to continuous improvement in the quality of our programmes and student experience. The programmes are relevant, and will ensure our graduates are competitive in today’s challenging economic environment.”
Since opening its doors to students in 1999, Tipperary Institute has experienced remarkable growth and is attracting students from all over Ireland and overseas as well as providing easy access to third level education for students from Co. Tipperary and the surrounding region. Students benefit from superb education facilities, very affordable and high quality accommodation, and a wealth of social and sporting amenities.
