Race 4 in the TT series was raced on Thursday 2nd July and although it was a fine, sunny if a little breezy evening, the number of entrants were down a bit due to various circumstances but good times were achieved – times very similar to the previous week. John Foote was the fastest club rider on the night with Will Murphy just 22 seconds behind him and Mike O’Keeffe and Liam Callaghan in third and fourth. This was a great result for Liam who had been away working for two weeks with no chance to even train! With handicaps in place, John Foote took the stage with last weeks winner, an ever-improving John McCarthy in second and Will Murphy and Mike O’Keeffe in third and fourth.
The battle of the evening however, took place between two former club members, René Van Dam of Cycling Pursuits in Limerick and FBD Insurance Ras rider, Michael Butler of Eurocycles, Dublin. René is still in TT mode after just having finished the Limerick series and he showed his consistency by being just one second slower over the 14 miles than he had been the previous week. A scorching time of 30.48 while Michael wasn’t too far behind him in 31.24. A great time from both men!
