M DONNELLY ALL IRELAND POC FAA 2009

Roscommon’s Gerry Fallon claimed the M Donnely All Ireland Poc Fada title from Tipperarys Brendan Cummins by the narrow margin of one poc. In what was one of the closet contests for many years, and played in extremely demanding conditions, Fallon who was trailing the reigning champion by two pocs at the last turning point on the 5km mountain course, came home strong and claimed the title. In the Comorotas Beirte (All Ireland Pairs) Fallon and Cummins claimed the trophies with a combined total of 121 pocs. Patricia Jackman from Waterford was a very popular winner of the M Donnelly All Ireland Camogie Poc Fada title, whilst it was further joy for Roscommon as Noel Fallon claimed the under 16 title.
