The third in a series of Points Sprint Races was held last Thursday evening, the 6th August by popular request of the riders concerned. The route remained the same – the straight between Donal Ryan’s roundabout and the one at the end of the bypass – a round distance of 2 miles. There were ten sprints in all, five with a long sprint and five with a short burst as we try to please all types of riders! This
week we had four guest riders – Alan Loftus and Patrick Rohan from Limerick CC, René Van Dam from Cycling Pursuits and Conor Ryan.
Once again, the strongest sprinter from the club was Shane Scully, taking his second consecutive victory with 44 points – just six off maximum. Eamon Hartnett, riding this type of race for the first time came second with 35 points and Paul Lenihan was third with 32 points.
