After a short break, racing resumed again last week with an extra race to determine handicaps for the Club Championship Road Race. This was won by Eamon Hartnett with Shane Scully and John O’Carroll in second and third. This week, September 20th, the race proper was held and it was a difficult one due to a very stiff head wind which left all the riders gasping. It is great to see new champions coming through and even more exciting when a new club member triumphs so this year the road race gave us the pleasure of seeing new club members fill the first five places and even more unusual was the fact that the first four are new to racing. Keith Horan took third place and Duncan Hodgins filled the second spot while the new Club Road Race Champion for 2009 is Liam Callaghan.
